BRIAN J. NASH has been a proud member of the Duplex staff since 2003. Brian works extensively on the Broadway and off-Broadway theater scene, and is the Music Director and Orchestrator of the off-Broadway hit, SILENCE! The Musical. He was a producer on Bare: The Musical for its recent revival off-Broadway and is a resident music director and performer for Atlantis Events worldwide. His cabaret work with Natalie Joy Johnson has earned them recognition from the Village Voice and has been named one of the Top 10 Cabaret Acts by TimeOut New York. Brian has also music directed for Andy Bell of Erasure, Tonya Pinkins, Julia Murney, Rob Evan, Mandy Gonzales, Michael McElroy, Jonathan Hellyer, Trevor Ashley, and many others. His piano playing was recently extensively featured on alternative pop band Boys Like Girls 2012 album, Crazy World (Columbia Records). Other recent theater projects include The Last 5 Years (Asolo Rep) , A Night In Seville (Epic Theater Ensemble), Crossing Brooklyn (Transport Group), Writing Arthur and Something’s Wrong With Amandine at TheatreWorks New Works Festival in Palo Alto, CA, Writing Arthur at NAMT with Kelli O’Hara and Ana Gasteyer, The Unauthorized Musicology of Ben Folds I and II and But I’m A Cheerleader for the New York Musical Theatre Festival, and A Broadway Diva Christmas, starring Ellen Greene and Kathy Brier. Other NYC and regional credits include Songs for a New World, The Sexless Years, Red, Lend Me a Tenor, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Rocky Horror Show. Brian has produced albums for singer/songwriters Justin Tranter, Shanna Sharp, and Stacy Allyn Baker, recently performed at Town Hall, the Kennedy Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Birdland with Natalie Douglas, and produced and produced Kate Pazakis’ debut album, Unzipped: Live at the Zipper for PS Classics. Brian is in extensive demand as a pianist and singer throughout NYC and has played sold out concerts of the music of Tori Amos; he is also been a featured performer on Rosie and Kelli O’Donnell’s r family vacations cruises. His first songs were written for two recent editions of TheATrainPlays, and were featured on NPR’s All Things Considered. Dan Crowley

Dan Crowley has been a part of the Duplex family since the Spring of 2011. He is a singer-songwriter whose original music has been heard at live music venues all over New York City, including the legendary Bitter End, Rockbar, and the now-defunct Don Hill’s. Original music and select covers can be found at the YouTube channel DanCrowleyNYC. In his theater days, Dan appeared in Hair (European tour), West Side Story, Guys And Dolls, and multiple productions of Contact (including National tour and first-ever regional production). Graduate of NYU’s Tisch School Of The Arts. He is avid film buff, music lover, storyteller, astrology nut and vodka drinker. You can usually find him during happy hours at both the upstairs and downstairs bars, as well as outside in the warm weather. Come drink with us, we love our patrons!

Justin McDevitt is a playwright originally from Massachusetts. He attends NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study where he concentrates on the relationship between madness and theater.


Gerry Dieffenbach

Gerry Dieffenbach is a singer, songwriter, pianist and musical director. He has twice received the Songwriters Guild of America President’s Award, the Back Stage Bistro Award for Outstanding Musical Director, the CAB Magazine Award for Sustained Achievement, and the Critics Choice Award for Outstanding Album of the Year for his CD of original songs, Well Informed. He performs his original music and pop standards in his inimitable style in the New York clubs weekly and has also appeared at venues including Town Hall (NYC), Westbury Music Fair, Atlantic City and London’s Wembley Arena. A SONGBOOK showcase of Gerry’s music has been produced by Arts and Artists at St. Paul’s at The Donnell Library Theater, NYC, and he is a Songwriters Guild of America board member and a voting member of The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). His original songs have been recorded and performed on concert and cabaret stages by many artists.

Trained in piano and voice at Carnegie Mellon University and Manhattan School of Music, Gerry was resident musical director for the Hempstead Repertory Theatre. He has performed television segments for the Today Show, LIVE, Attitudes, Fox After Breakfast, and The Joan Rivers Show, and has musical directed and accompanied numerous performers on stage and TV, including Deborah Gibson, Steve Harley, Lisa Brescia, Rita Harvey, Aasif Mandvi, Terri White, Christine Pedi, Darius de Haas, Karen Mason, Donny Osmond, Georga Osborne, Shauna Hicks, Jana Robbins, Clint Holmes, Nelson Aspen, Margaret Whiting, Petula Clark, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, and Joan Rivers. He was on the development team as musical director, pianist and lead singer for the Broadway musical DREAM, he performed in and musical directed the Broadway in Bryant Park Series saluting the songs of Alan Jay Lerner and the musical BIKESHOP, directed by Gretchen Cryer.

As her associate, Gerry is a vocal coach who studies voice with and teaches the technique of Joan Lader.
