Deena Sydney

Deena Sydney

Deena was born and raised is New York. She started singing at the age of 9 with The Metropolitan Opera where she stayed for 7 seasons and performed in over 250 performances, soloing in Tosca, Die Agyptische Helena, and Hansel und Gretl. Although her first memories were singing Beauty and the Beast during nap time to the rest of her sleepy kindergarten class, she decided to retire from opera at the ripe age of 16 and turn her sights to Musical Theater. Deena received her BFA from NYUs Tisch School of the Arts and performed in a handful of shows during her time there including: Words, Words, Words (Milton), Into the Woods (Cinderella), and The Girl Who Was Plugged In (P. Burke). Since graduating, Deena has performed in various shows, concerts, and competition (She loves the Spotlight) including “Stonewall Sensation” which eventually carried her to the Duplex.

Deena has been bartending for the past 4 years and loves every minute of it. At the Duplex, she gets to fulfill both her passions: singing and booze! Come visit Deena at the Duplex – She promises to make all your musical and alcoholic dreams come true.

Michelle Buteau, Marina Franklin, and Veronica Mosey

Michelle Buteau: Born in New Jersey to Caribbean parents, comedian/host/performer Michelle Buteau brings a cheeky swagger, unique perspective and big personality to stage and screen. You can catch her co-hosting on VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live with Nick Lachey weekdays at 9AM. Michelle has been a staple at VH1 appearing on countless I Love The series, Best Week Ever, where she was nominated for a New Now Next Award, and also played the sassy sidekick on The Jenny McCarthy Show. As a comedian, Buteau has toured the country performing at colleges, clubs and comedy festivals. Her television stand-up appearances include the The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Lopez Tonight, Comedy Central and Last Comic Standing. As well as playing Private Robinson on FOX’s critically acclaimed series Enlisted, Michelle is also known as ‘The Crazy Girlfriend’ on Comedy Central’s Key & Peele and Adult Swim’s The Eric Andre Show. Michelle’s dynamic presence both on television and on the stage, bringing an unapologetic frankness to every performance will have you saying “Hey, Girl Hey!” the rest of your day.

Marina Franklin: New-York based Marina Franklin is emerging as one of the hottest comedians in the comedy scene today, with such notable appearances as, Wanda Syke’s Herlarious, Showtime’s Women Who Kill, Craig Ferguson’s Late Late Show, The Jay Leno Show, Chappelle’s Show, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, NBC’s Last Comic Standing Season II, and Showtime at The Apollo. She is a favorite in Comedy Festivals across the world, like Melbourne Comedy Festival, Scotland’s Glasgow Comedy Festival, BBC’s World Stand’s Up, Rotterdam’s Comedy Factory, Montreal’s Just For Laughs, Ireland’s Kilkenny Comedy Festival, and Nashville’s Bonnaroo Music Festival. Franklin’s career in entertainment wasn’t always in stand-up comedy; originally from Chicago, she made her acting debut at the Illinois Rep Theatre. She then quickly realized her love for acting and went on to pursue a MFA in acting at Syracuse University. Franklin is viciously likeable, if there is such a thing.

Veronica Mosey: Veronica Mosey is a force to be reckoned with. (She is already irritated, that last sentence ended in a preposition.) Her strong opinions and fiery performances, have earned her regular stage time at the Comic Strip in New York City as well as appearances on The Dr. Phil Show and Vh1. She has been seen in national commercials and her sarcastic wit has been published in Us Weekly magazine’s Fashion Police segment.
